With all this talk of iPads and Kindles shaking up the print world, few people are sparing a thought for Sony's noble Reader series, so the company would like to take this opportunity to remind you that it is “selling very well.” Fujio Noguchi, Deputy President of Sony's e-book division, indicated that the gadget is its most popular item in the Sony Style store, with the Touch Edition selling the most units. quad OS, inflated sense of self and 3G wireless all for the Sony VAIO UX handheld

As we're all undoubtedly aware, old gadgets don't really die — they just just get modded eternally (as the continued appearance of Atari on these pages will attest). Another case-in-point: the Sony VAIO UX490N. It's been a while since we laid eyes on one of these bad boys, but apparently there's been plenty of hacking goin' on ever since, including: upgrading the SSD to the RunCore Pro IV 128GB and swapping out the 1.2GHz CPU for a 1.33GHz Core 2 Duo (overclocked to 1.438GH……

Pacman edition: Sony Ericsson Pureness hands-on

We've seen it out and about, but at last we got a chance to actually play with Sony Ericsson's tribute to impractical style: the Pureness. As it turns out, using the device is just about as pointless as it seems. You can always just barely make out what's happening on the semi-translucent monochrome screen, and we found ourselves constantly shifting our angle and backdrop to improve readability. The capabilities of the phone should come as no surprise to anyone who's used a Sony……

New Sony NXCAM…more camcorder than you ever need

Sony's latest professional-grade camcorder probably meets your needs and then some by quite a stretch, recording AVCHD up to 24Mbps and SD quality in MPEG-2 / 9Mbps. We're also looking at a 20x zoom lens, 3 x 1/3-inch Exmor CMOS sensor, and storage options including Memory Stick Pro Duo and an optional 128GB flash memory drive. Don't lie, you want this beast, even if it clearly falls in the “if you have to ask, you can't afford it” category. Look for more temptation sometime clo……

Sony Ericsson site says Xperia X10 launching February 2010 in UK

Sony Ericsson UK's got a new pre-registration page for the Xperia X10, and along with it what appears to be a brand new, February 2010 expected launch. It's hard to say for sure, but as far as we can tell this page is new, and last we heard the target window was a much broader “first half 2010.” Can't say we're anymore excited about this than before, but far be it for us to get in the way of a truly die hard fan community. At least you have a better idea of when to break the bank now.

Sony Ericsson Kurara smartphone pop up Spy shots

Sony Ericsson obviously feel pretty good about working with Symbian S60 touch-operated UI as they are about to launch a second handset running it after the Satio. Nicknamed Kurara, the subject of these shots is a full-touch handset that packs some serious imaging capabilities.

There's still a pretty good chance that those photos are fan mockups but if they are not we have a pretty interesting handset coming our way. The Sony Ericsson Kurara is said to sport a 3.5″ AMOLED touchscreen and an 8……
